 Lights, Camera, Blog!
Sunday, March 03 2013

Unequivocally, actors must understand that every action on stage commands a reaction to keep the play flowing with conflict, love, humor, and the intensity of tragic circumstances.  When you act, you can't just say lines and then wait for something to happen.  The energy of the action starts with how you transcend your lines and how your lines resonate with the environment you find yourself in. The lines should have enough power to become punches in the gut, music in the ears, and dancing of the feet!  We, (the audience) must hear and see the struggle for power, or the relinquishing of power with inflection in your voice, strategic movements in your space, strong gestures that express your desires or disappointments, and the releasing of emotions that hit the gut or heart like a bullet!  Audiences want to feel, laugh, cry, and identify with characters that are larger than life, or smaller in their persona because they have been tagged as the underdogs.  In essence, transitions make the play pop on stage.  Be on task, for it's your transitions that guide the applauds.
